Anatomy of an Outfit: Michelle Trachtenberg Goes Green

It seems Leighton Meester (Blair) isn't the only one loving herself some cargo pants in military green. When Michelle Trachtenberg (Georgina) showed up to the Lexus-hosted "The Darker Side of Green" debate series, she opted for a similar pair along with some sexy double strap sandals. Unlike Leighton, who likes to pair her slim slacks with cream and beige tops, Michelle slipped into a loose and silky tee in a graphic cheetah print — all the better to complement those catlike eyes of hers! A bold, golden Chanel pendant necklace rounds out the ensemble, making it a fun balance of subtle and gaudy. We love Michelle's departure from her usual dark and brooding evening looks, but with multiple Gossip Girl actresses endorsing the skinny military pant, we can't resist getting our hands on a pair right away!

As witnessed time and time again, Leighton Meester (Blair) is a fashion force to be reckoned with. From insanely sexy, to glam goddess, to casual and cool — she's not afraid of mixing it up. That's one of the reasons we love her so much! And while some of the Gossip Girl stars tend to bore us with their predictable ensembles (ahem, Taylor Momsen), Leighton always manages to whip up fresh and adorable looks.
On September 2, L arrived to set wearing a mesh-back tank, fringed grommet shorts, and nude platform heels. Splashes of orange lend a fun and funky twist, creating an ideal quirky cool ensemble for a late summer day. Better fit in your last few moments of warm weather style now, L. Autumn boots and jackets are right around the corner!

With the slew of crazy colors, wild prints, and generally hodge-podged looks we’ve seen on Blair so far this season, we're pleasantly surprised to see her dial down the drama and reach for a more subdued and simple look. In a body conscious, drape-neck number designed by Victoria Beckham, B looks timeless and sophisticated, understated yet sexy. A chunky gold bangle and jewel-encrusted clutch give the appropriate Blair-like luxe to the streamlined look; Missoni patterned pumps add a fun and funky (if mismatched) touch.
But Blair wasn’t the first fashionista to rock the VB frock. On July 1, the designer herself was seen in an even more pared-down version of the simply bare look. With a tousled updo and leg-lengthening nude pumps, there's nothing to distract from the gorgeous construction of the dress.
We're torn on this one. What do you think — who wore it best?

At first glance, the drapey, cream-colored little dress that Katie Cassidy is sporting on the set of Gossip Girl seems a bit over the top for a daytime look, even by the show's "more is more" standards. Luckily, the light color keeps things feeling floaty, and a choker-length strand of pearls adds a healthy dose of innocence. Still, our favorite part of the look is a piece that we've probably all thrown on at some point to add some boho appeal to a basic tee and jeans combo — an oversize fringe scarf. Somehow this easygoing scrap of fabric tones everything down and adds dimension to Katie's sexy shift. Who knew a simple scarf could be such a sartorial game changer? We're currently digging through our wardrobes to find our long-lost favorites, but in the meantime, we've got a few affordable alternatives to recreate Katie's look!

Photo: Juliet Sharp (Katie Cassidy) wears an Alexander Wang cropped-back blazer, zippered sheath dress by Alexander McQueen, Givenchy platform pumps, and a Salvatore Ferragamo distressed satchel bag. Yeow. (Photo credit: Jayme Oak/Startraks)
For a character described to be a “raging, conniving mean girl” attempting to steal Nate and rock the Upper East Side, you wouldn’t expect Juliet Sharp (Katie Cassidy) to be so buttoned-up and conservative. At least that’s what we suspect she wants us to think. It’s much easier to manipulate everyone around you if no one suspects a thing.
To aid in her act, Juliet opts for neutral hues, classic cuts, and office-appropriate silhouettes — but of course, her bad girl side comes out in the details. A business-minded blazer gets an unexpected twist with a black cropped panel in the back. Strategically-placed zippers take a simple shift from drab and boring to seductively glam. We won't deny that the girl looks good, but we'd watch out if we were S, B, or V. Juliet Sharp is not what she appears — and we can't wait to see what she has in store for us this season!

Alexander Wang Cropped Back Blazer: $575
Alexander McQueen McQ Zippered Shift Dress: $369
Salvatore Ferragamo Distressed Satchel
Givenchy Platform Pumps: $795
